Augusto Falcon and Salvador Magluta who were known as Willy Falcon and Sal Magluta on the US offshore racing circuit in the 1980’s are featured in the new Netflix documentary series, ‘Cocaine Cowboys: The Kings of Miami.’
Falcon and Magluta – ‘Los Muchachos’, kept their day job of importing large quantities of cocaine into Miami relatively quiet and were only arrested in 1991.
The Cuban-American friends started to build their import empire in the late 1970’s and used the proceeds to purchase raceboats, super cars, property and legitimate businesses to wash the cash. The fast boats also came in handy for transporting drugs from the Bahamas to Florida.
Hollywood has been looking at this story for years but was deemed to be just too big to tell in one movie, Netflix have told the tale over six episodes and it is available to view from today.
