Groupe Beneteau announced in a statement that it acquired the Starfisher brand, strengthening its position in the 25 to 35-foot powerboat segment and establishing a presence in Portugal.
Starfisher is now known as GB Portugal. The yard also has been operating as a subcontractor for other boat brands, including some from Beneteau.
“The Beneteau Group has great ambitions for development in all the markets it addresses and, in particular, the dayboating market, which is particularly dynamic,” Jérôme de Metz, chairman and CEO of Groupe Beneteau, said in the statement.
“This acquisition will enable us to strengthen our production capacity for small motorboats and to establish ourselves in Portugal,” de Metz added.
Located in Campos, in northern Portugal, the production site comprises 538,196 square feet, including 161,460 square feet of factory and warehouse space. The yard employs 200 people.
